Yep, aber ich hab vorhin schon, anscheinend erfolglos, deutlich zu machen versucht, dass es einfach auffällig ist, dass er ausgerechnet zu diesem Zeitpunkt und in diesem Zusammenhang damit anfängt, nachdem er noch nie darüber gesprochen hat. Er hätte auch ein anderes Recherchebeispiel angeben können.

Natürlich ist es reine Spekulation, aber mein RAdar schlägt aus und ich hab manchmal ganz gute Instinkte . Außerdem hat eine tüchtige Prise Optimismus noch niemand geschadet. Für die Rolle des Thorins hat er auch eine ganze Reihe von Bewerbern aus dem Rennen geschlagen.

Irgendwann werden wir es sicher erfahren.

Ich finde nicht, dass sein Bekanntheitsgrad bei den Menschen da draußen die größte Rolle dabei spielt ob er für einen Blockbuster-Streifen gecasted wird. In der Branche sollte er sich mittlerweile schon einen Namen gemacht haben, auch wenn er nicht Brad Pitt heißt. Leute aus der Branche halten doch immer die Augen nach Neuem offen, wieso also nicht Richard casten und die anderen in die Wüste schicken?

TheVine: You have a huge Twitter following!

Richard Armitage: I know, I know. And I don’t Tweet, either. [Laughs] Did you post: ‘come and ask questions?’

TheVine: Yes.

Richard Armitage: Oh good! And what was the response? [Laughs]

TheVine: Someone asked something about a grey sweater. Was that from Spooks or something?

Richard Armitage: Maybe. I’ve got a number of grey sweaters…yeah they can have them all.

Richard Armitage: Gosh. That’s interesting. About Thorin [I would ask Tolkien] “Was there ever a lost love?” Because he seems to be someone who is so without that kind of personal love. And I sort of did create that for myself in the biography; that maybe there was somebody – a princess or someone – in Erebor that got lost when the dragon came. Because he doesn’t really have that romantic relationship in his life. It’s not a very dwarf thing – there are so few dwarf women.

TheVine: And they have facial hair, no?

Richard Armitage: They have facial hair, the women do, yeah. But I also imagine, if you’re a prince, that it would be sort of prerequisite that you needed produce an heir, and so I just wonder if there was that part of his life that had ever existed and had maybe been lost. So I wrote it in for myself. So that’s probably what I’d ask Tolkien.

Richard Armitage: Do you know what, I dream about being good at comedy. I just don’t think I am. I don’t think I have a face for comedy. I think I look a bit too mean. I dunno. I would like to do more comedy. I workshopped a production of The Rover which we were going to take out on tour – I still dream that it is going to happen – which is a Restoration Comedy.

Richard Armitage: Do you know what, it’s interesting because this is something that comes through a lot. I actually am not comfortable with horror. I don’t really watch it, but I would also find it difficult to go in everyday…it’s different with fantasy - battlefield stuff - but when there’s lots and lots of blood, and guts and gore, I would find that very difficult.
