The trailer has landed for Netflix's star-studded psychological thriller The Stranger, starring Jennifer Saunders and Richard Armitage - and it already looks set to be a gripping watch.

Based on Harlan Coben's book of the same name, The Stranger will follow Adam Price, who discovers a life-changing secret about his wife, Corinne - leaving him questioning everything he thought he knew about her.

When dad-of-two Adam is approached by a woman in a bar calling herself the stranger - complete with a shifty-looking baseball cap - he delves into his wife's secret life and ends up unravelling a conspiracy that could threaten to tear his whole family apart.

The official trailer opens with happy clips of the Price family on car trips and fooling around at home, before cutting to the fateful scene in the bar.

"You didn't have to stay with her you know," begins the stranger as she approaches Adam in the bar. "Corinne. You didn't have to stay with her when she told you she was pregnant."

"I'm sorry. Do I know you?," Adam replies.

The stranger then reveals Corinne's secret - that she was never pregnant and has lied to him.

"Who are you and why are you saying this?", Adam asks the stranger, to which she replies: "Think of me as a stranger. A stranger that knows."

The encounter leaves Adam suitably spooked and he starts looking for answers to what the stranger knows about his wife and why Corinne has lied to him.

Meanwhile, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and The Wasp) will play the main character, described by Netflix as "a mysterious stranger who exposes people's secrets, dropping bombshells that will shatter lives."

Alongside the A-list actors, TV favourite Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous) will play the character of Heidi, best friend to Happy Valley's Siobhan Finneran, who plays DS Johanna Griffin.

In her first dramatic role, Saunders will play "an outgoing character who is seeking adventure after her daughter leaves for university".

Other actors to appear in the show are Paul Kaye (Game of Thrones), Anthony Head (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and Kadiff Kirwan (Call the Midwife).

The eight-part series reunites the team behind previous production, Safe, and is described as "VERY twisty and mysterious" according to Netflix.

It was filmed around Manchester, Bolton and Stockport from March until August last year.

We can't wait to watch this mind-bending drama unravel.

The first trailer for The Stranger has officially dropped, and we’re already hooked. The mystery/thriller – starring Jennifer Saunders, Richard Armitage and Shaun Dooley – lands on Netflix on 30 January. And, judging by the first glimpse at the show, we’re predicting the next big hit for the streaming platform. It all kicks off with a seemingly happy family, lawyer Adam Price (Armitage) is enjoying his quiet slice of suburban life with wife Corinne (Dervla Kirwan) and their two children. But nothing is ever idyllic for long, as a stranger (Hannah John-Kamen) bumps into him at a bar, causing his life to crumble. ‘She [Corinne] told you she was pregnant and then she lost the baby,’ she tells him. ‘She made it up, she was never pregnant.’ Adam Price’s entire life unravelled in just a few minutes It takes just a few whispers in his ear for Adam’s entire life to entirely unravel, leaving him to question everything and everyone around him. In the blink of an eye, Corinne has disappeared, dead animals are being found and a murder has been committed – but by who? A voiceover can be heard saying: ‘We all have our secrets, Adam. Richard Armitage Stars In The First Trailer For Netflix’s ‘The Stranger’

Netflix has released the first trailer for their upcoming mystery filled drama, The Stranger. Starring Richard Armitage, Siobhan Finneran and Jennifer Saunders, this series follow a family plagued by secrets and pushes viewers to question how well they really know their loved ones.

As the show’s description reads, “When a stranger makes a shocking claim about his wife, family man Adam Price becomes entangled in a mystery as he desperately searches for answers.”

“We all have secrets. Based on the novel by Harlan Coben, The Stranger forces us to confront a question we all fear – how well do we really know the people closest to us?” Netflix adds.

The high stakes drama will hit Netflix on January 30th. In the meantime, check out the first trailer for The Stranger above.

Adam Price seems to have a charmed existence. Two wonderful sons, a career in law, and most of all, a watertight marriage to his soulmate, Corinne, a teacher at the local school.

Adam is living the dream. Until one night a STRANGER sits down next to him in a bar.

“She lied, Adam. Corinne made it up, she was never pregnant… One more thing. If I were you, I’d run DNA checks on your two boys…” As quickly as the stranger came, she is gone. Adam tries going after her, but it’s too late. As the stranger’s words eat away at Adam, he begins to investigate his wife. To his horror, his greatest fears are realised.

When Adam confronts Corinne with evidence that she faked a pregnancy, she flees, leaving only a text message.

The Stranger is the third collaboration for RED Production Company (a STUDIOCANAL company), Harlan Coben and Netflix, following the success of The Five and 2018 hit Harlan Coben’s Safe, which starred Michael C. Hall.

Nicola Shindler, writers Harlan Coben and Danny Brocklehurst, and Richard Fee are the Executive Producers of the new eight-part series. The Stranger is produced by Madonna Baptiste with Daniel O’Hara as lead director and Hannah Quinn as second block director.

The Stranger is created by Harlan Coben, and is based on his best-selling novel.

'The Stranger' exposes dark secrets in trailer for Netflix series

Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Netflix is giving a glimpse of its new series The Stranger.

The streaming service shared a first trailer for the show Thursday featuring Richard Armitage (The Hobbit) as Adam Price, a husband and father.

The preview shows Adam's (Armitage) seemingly perfect life implode after a stranger (Hannah John-Kamen) tells him a secret about his wife, Corinne (Dervla Kirwan).

"What if our darkest secrets were exposed by a stranger?" the trailer posits.

The Stranger (John-Kamen) shares with Adam that Corinne (Kirwan) faked a pregnancy.

"You didn't have to stay with her, you know," the Stranger says. "Corinne. You didn't have to stay with her when she told you she was pregnant."

The secret leads to a bigger conspiracy that puts Adam's life in danger.

Siobhan Finneran co-stars as detective Johanna Griffin, while Jennifer Saunders plays Heidi.

Netflix previously shared first look photos for the show, one of which shows Adam having a tense phone conversation.

The Stranger is based on the Harlan Coben novel of the same name. Coben serves as an executive producer with Danny Brocklehurst, who penned the script.

The Stranger is an eight-part series that premieres Jan. 30.

Fans of murder mysteries will be very happy to know that Netflix's adaptation of Harlan Coben's best-selling novel The Stranger is shaping up to be a cracker and it has a wonderful cast too.

In terms of its plot, the mystery thriller is set in suburbia, where one stranger enters the lives of many, unfolding a web of lifelong secrets and lies.


The official synopsis states: "Adam Price seems to have a charmed existence. Two wonderful sons, a career in law, and most of all, a watertight marriage to his soulmate, Corinne, a teacher at the local school.
