Thomas Calabro Boards ‘The Last Ship’; Scott Winters Spies ‘Berlin Station’ Role
by Erik Pedersen
April 20, 2017 8:16pm
Thomas Calabro has booked a recurring role in Season 5 of TNT’s The Last Ship, the postapocalyptic naval drama starring Eric Dane, Adam Baldwin and Bridget Regan. It chronicles the aftermath of a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Now, CNO Captain Tom Chandler (Dane) and his crew must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors. Calabro will play Gen. Don Kinkaid, who is in charge of the new, smaller Army that the U.S. has built up in the years since the end of the plague. Calabro starred as Dr. Michael Mancini in Darren Star’s original Melrose Place, and his recent credits include Hit the Floor and Lifetime telefilms The New Edition Story and The Wrong House.
Scott Winters is set to recur on the next season of the Epix spy drama Berlin Station. Created by Olen Steinhauer, the series looks at the activity of a CIA office on a global stage in the midst of an investigation into a now-famous whistleblower. It follows Daniel Miller (Richard Armitage), a new arrival at Berlin’s CIA station who is on a clandestine mission to uncover the source of the Thomas Shaw leaks. Winters will play Nick Fischer, the American Chief of Station in Oslo, Norway. A cold-blooded loner with conservative political beliefs, he is willing to go to extreme lengths to get what he wants and is not afraid to use force when necessary. Winters had been recurring on FX’s The Americans and NBC’s Law & Order: SVU and recently wrapped a role in the feature Beautifully Broken with Eric Roberts. Scott is repped by Insurge-Ent and Ellipsis Entertainment Group.

Daniel Miller
Played By Richard Armitage
Richard Armitage stars in BERLIN STATION as “Daniel Miller,” the cerebral, newly anointed CIA officer who goes from being an analyst in Panama to an undercover officer in Berlin tasked with finding a leak.
Richard Armitage has been a favorite of critics and audiences alike for several years. He is best known for his role as the heroic Thorin Oakenshield in Peter Jackson’s film trilogy The Hobbit, alongside Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis and Cate Blanchett. He recently appeared in a dramatic arc as the serial killer “The Great Red Dragon” on the popular television drama “Hannibal,” and also starred in 2014 in a new production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible at The Old Vic Theatre, a performance for which he was nominated for “Best Actor” at the 2015 Olivier Awards.
His previous high-profile TV work in “North and South”, “Spooks (US title: MI-5)”, “Robin Hood” and “Strike Back” established him as one of the most popular actors in the UK, with a massive fan following, while in the United States, Armitage rose quickly as a leading man in films. In 2014, he starred in New Line Cinema’s tornado disaster film, Into the Storm, and he has two movies in the can due for release in the coming year, “Brain on Fire,” a portrait of a young woman’s descent into madness with Chloe Grace Moretz, and the gritty period adventure “Pilgrimage” with Tom Holland.
For his first US film, Armitage appeared in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, directed by Joe Johnston. Armitage played Heinz Kruger, Captain America’s nemesis, alongside Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Hayley Atwell. Other British TV projects include BBC’s “Macbeth”, opposite James McAvoy and Keeley Hawes, and appearances in “Sparkhouse”, “Cold Feet”, “Ultimate Force”, “Between the Sheets” and as ‘The King of the Underland’ in Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass. Armitage also has appeared in numerous theater productions, including Hamlet, The Four Alice Bakers, Macbeth and The Duchess of Malfi.
Born and raised in Leicester, England, Armitage was classically trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
