Two Can Play This Role: Richard Armitage Will Be Back as Wolverine
By Kate Hudson | Industry | November 5, 2018 |
Good news for Richard Armitage and his fans, people who hate Hugh Jackman as the sole Wolverine, and anyone who enjoyed Marvel Studio’s first scripted podcast, Wolverine: The Long Night; as it’s been renewed for a second season.
The second season, Wolverine: The Lost Trail, will pick up in the Louisiana Bayou, a change from the first season’s location of Alaska. Armitage will return in the titular role, along with new to-be-announced cast members to fit along with the new setting. Per the above source:
“Marvel’s ‘Wolverine: The Lost Trail’ is an epic quest that takes place in the Louisiana bayou. Following the events of Marvel’s ‘Wolverine: The Long Night,’ Logan (Richard Armitage) returns to New Orleans in search of redemption, only to discover that his ex-lover, Maureen is nowhere to be found. And she’s not the only one. Dozens of humans and mutants have gone missing, including the mother of a teenage boy, Marcus Baptiste. With Weapon X in close pursuit, Logan and Marcus must team up and follow a trail of clues that leads them deep into the gothic heart of the bayou, where they encounter biker gangs, Cajun thieves and a world of wonders that defies explanation. It is here that they find Greenhaven — a backwater refuge run by a powerful mutant named Jason Wyngarde.”
Despite starring in some pretty big major-releases like The Hobbit Trilogy, Armitage has definitely leaned in to voice work lately, and appears to have 31 titles available on Audible, a good chunk of which was released in the last year. This is in addition to co-starring in Oceans 8, which was released this summer, and presumably filming two movies this year that are currently in post-production slated for a 2019 release. Richard Armitage is busy, y’all!

This is all great for him, and he appears to have a career I wish on any actor whose work I enjoy: interesting and consistent work, without the crushing constant spotlight that forces you to live your life in a bubble.
In addition to being in-demand, he manages to post occasionally on Twitter, and unlike some people *cough* Ted Cruz *cough* his posts are a gentle, benign delight. Any time a post of his pops up in my feed, I half-expect it to be of an interesting-looking bird he came across in his garden. No such luck…yet.
.@TogletTim Thanks for the write up Tim, my Dad thinks I’ve given up acting….he’ll be right chuffed! https://t.co/6g1FTYb4AE

For many reasons I’ll never forget that time, but there were so many small things that made a huge difference, like accommodation for family members, complementary therapies, the gardens, and the staff. I’ll never stop supporting or saying thank you to LOROS. https://t.co/37ydlHCQ3T
