Hab gerade auf Imdb entdeckt, dass Pilgrimage am 27.3.17 in Schweden auf DVD rauskommt.

Berlin: Irish Action-Thriller 'Pilgrimage' Lands at RLJ (Exclusive)

Ahead of the start of the European Film Market in Berlin, Irish action-thriller Pilgrimage, starring Jon Bernthal, Richard Armitage and Tom Holland, has been acquired by RLJ Entertainment for U.S. rights in a seven figure deal.

Directed by Brendan Muldowney, the film is set in 13th century Ireland, and follows a small group of monks as they undertake a treacherous pilgrimage to escort their monastery’s holiest relic to Rome. But, as the true material, political and religious significance of the relic is revealed, the group’s journey becomes increasingly dangerous.

Jamie Hannigan wrote the script for Pilgrimage, which was produced by Conor Barry and John Keville of Dublin-based production outfit Savage Productions and Benoit Roland of Wrong Men. XYZ Films executive produced.

“This is the kind of elevated genre film that action fans across the country have been waiting to see," said RLJ’s chief acquisitions officer Mark Ward. "With a stellar cast led by Jon, Richard and Tom, we are very excited to bring this film to theaters nationwide."

Nate Bolotin brokered the domestic rights deal on behalf of XYZ Films alongside WME Global and Mark Ward and Jess De Leo for RLJ.

RLJ Entertainment recently acquired Sundance title Bushwick, another XYZ Films production which stars Dave Bautista and Brittany Snow. XYZ’s current slate also includes Apostle, directed by Gareth Evans and starring Dan Stevens, Anders Walters’ feature debut I Kill Giants starring Zoe Saldana, Imogen Poots and Madison Wolfe, as well as S.Craig Zahler’s Brawl in Cell Block 99 with Vince Vaughn and Don Johnson.

Pilgrimage, an Irish action film set in the 13th century, has been sold for release in the United States in a deal worth more than $1m (€1.2m).

Shot in Ireland in 2015, it stars international actors Richard Armitage, Tom Holland and Jon Bernthal, alongside an Irish cast that includes Hugh O’Conor, Ruaidhri Conroy and John Lynch. Pilgrimage tells the story of a group of monks who undertake an arduous mission across Ireland to take holy relic to Rome.

It was directed by Brendan Muldowney, who made Savage and Love Eternal, and written by Jamie Hannigan, brother of singer-songwriter Lisa. The film received €900,000 from the Irish Film Board and €350,000 from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.

The American distribution rights were sold last week to RLJ Entertainment and it is expected to go on release later this year.

Pilgrimage was filmed in Mayo, Galway and Belgium. It depicts a “perilous war-torn landscape” in 13th-century Ireland where Norman invaders are growing in power.

The film is multilingual, with Irish and French being spoken alongside English, and the producers claim it’s the first time this period of Ireland’s history has been depicted on screen.

The monks are escorting a rock used in the martyrdom of St Matthais, the 13th apostle, to Rome.

Their odyssey is seen through the eyes of a pious young novice and a mute lay brother with a violent past.
