Eleonore von Aquitanien, die Mutter von Richard Löwenherz? Eine sehr interessante, um nicht zu sagen schillernde, Frau des Mittelalters! :daumen:
Und irgendwie fast schon wieder Guy of Gisborne... Lol.

Bin schon sehr gespannt auf die Press Release! Wenn er schon mit der Arbeit an dem Projekt begonnen hat, müsste Hannibal für ihn ja erst mal beendet sein. :nix: Was ich überhaupt nicht schlimm finde!

Jon Bernthal (Fury, The Walking Dead), Richard Armitage (The Hobbit trilogy, Into The Storm) and Tom Holland (The Impossible, BBC’s Wolf Hall), have signed on to Pilgrimage, an action thriller from director Brendan Muldowney. Set in 13th century Ireland, the film follows a small group of monks as they undertake a treacherous pilgrimage to escort their monastery’s holiest relic to Rome. As the journey becomes increasingly fraught with danger, the faith that binds the men together threatens to be the very same thing that will tear them apart. Production is set to begin in April in Ireland and later Belgium. Bernthal, repped by WME and Burstein Company, co-stars in the Sundance hit Me And Earl And The Dying Girl. Armitage, repped by WME, Management 360 and United Agents in the UK, next will be seen on NBC’s Hannibal. Repped by WME and by Curtis Brown Group in the UK, Holland next appears in Ron Howard’s In The Heart Of The Sea.

Richard Armitage Joins Pilgrimage
Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland also on for the thriller

23 March 2015 | Written by James White | Source: Screen Internationa

Richard-Armitage-Pilgrimage

The story of a group of monks transporting a holy relic might not strike you as the basis for an action thriller. But throw Richard Armitage, Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland into the mix, plus the possibility of trouble from barbarians on the road to Rome and you have a good chance of a little violence ahead. That’s the basic set-up behind Pilgrimage.

Brendan Muldowney is set to start directing the film next moth, working from a script by Jamie Hannigan. The basic story, as mentioned, finds a group of 13th century monks who must escort a monastery’s holiest relic to Rome and find their faith severely tested on route.

With assistance from the Irish Film Board and Creative Europe, Muldowney and primary producers Conor Barry and John Keville have tracked down the cash for a shoot that will take in the West Coast of Ireland and Ardennes in Belgium.

Armitage has most recently been at work playing Francis Dolarhyde for the new season of ace US TV drama Hannibal. He’s also shot Sleepwalker and Urban & The Shed Crew. Bernthal, last seen in Fury, is part of the cast for Sundance success Me And Earl And The Dying Girl and will crop up in Sicario and We Are Your Friends. As for Holland, he’s been seen in TV’s Wolf Hall and will brave ocean terrors in Ron Howard’s In The Heart Of The Sea, which docks here on December 26.

Danke, Arianna.

Irish Film: Three join Brendan Muldowney’s Pilgrimage

pilgrimage_image-actors

Actors Jon Bernthal, Richard Armitage, and Tom Holland have joined the cast of Brendan Muldowney’s new historical epic Pilgrimage.

The film follows a small group of monks who begin a reluctant pilgrimage across an island torn between centuries of tribal warfare and the growing power of Norman invaders. Escorting their monastery’s holiest relic – a rock used in the martyrdom of St. Mathias, the thirteenth apostle – to Rome, the monks’ progress is seen through the eyes of a pious young novice and a mute lay-brother with a violent past.

The seven-week shoot starts in April, with filming on Ireland’s west coast and in the Ardennes region of Belgium. The script comes from Jamie Hannigan, with Muldowney’s Love Eternal cinematographer Tom Comerford returning.

Pilgrimage is an Irish/Belgian co-production with Conor Barry and John Keville of Dublin-based Savage Productions and Benoit Roland of Wrong Men North as producers. Financing comes from the Irish Film Board, Creative Europe, Broadcasting Authority Of Ireland, Wallimages, and the Wallonia Cultural Fund.

Jon Bernthal, Richard Armitage, and Tom Holland join Brendan Muldowney’s ‘Pilgrimage’
24 Mar 2015 : Seán Brosnan

Brendan Muldowney

Jon Bernthal (‘The Walking Dead’), Richard Armitage (‘The Hobbit’) and Tom Holland (‘The Impossible’) have joined the cast of the Irish action-thriller ‘Pilgrimage’, which will be directed by Irish director Brendan Muldowney (‘Love Eternal’, ‘Savage’) this spring in Ireland, with support from the Irish Film Board (IFB).
Written by Jamie Hannigan - the film is scheduled to commence production in April 2015 and shoot for over seven weeks on the West Coast of Ireland and the Ardennes Region of Belgium.

Set in 13th century Ireland, ‘Pilgrimage’ follows a small group of monks as they undertake a treacherous pilgrimage to escort their monastery’s holiest relic to Rome. But, as the true material, political and religious significance of the relic is revealed; the group’s journey becomes increasingly fraught with danger. Ultimately, the faith that binds the men together threatens to be the very same thing that will tear them apart.

‘Pilgrimage’ is one of a number of films to be produced this year with support from the IFB. 'The Truth Commissioner' has commenced production in Belfast and Dublin, and production activity has just wrapped on Jim Sheridan's ‘Secret Scripture’ starring Jack Reynor and ‘Love and Friendship’ starring Kate Beckinsdale and Chloe Sevigny.

Bernthal has enjoyed success as a series mainstay on ‘The Walking Dead’, in addition to recent prominent roles in David Ayer’s ‘Fury’ and Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’. Bernthal is also featured in ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’, which swept the top awards at Sundance and was acquired out of the festival by Fox Searchlight.

Richard Armitage is a classically trained English actor best known for his role as Thorin Oakenshield in Peter Jackson’s film trilogy adaptation of ‘The Hobbit’, as well as his roles in television dramas ‘Robin Hood’, ‘Spooks’, and ‘Strike Back’. He is also set to appear as a series regular in the popular television drama ‘Hannibal’.

Tom Holland is an English actor best known for starring alongside Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts in Juan Antonio Bayona’s ‘The Impossible’. He will next be seen in Ron Howard’s ‘In the Heart of the Sea’ opposite Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy and Brendan Gleeson. Tom also starred in Kevin McDonald’s ‘How I Live Now’ and ‘Locke’. Holland got his start playing the title role in Billy Elliott the Musical in London.

Muldowney’s multi award winning ‘Love Eternal’ won the Dublin Film Critics Circle Best Irish Feature Award at the recent Jameson Dublin International Film Festival. It originally premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh last summer, and has screened at over sixty festivals worldwide, including the Sydney Film Festival, Sitges and Busan.

The film will be produced by Conor Barry and John Keville of Savage Productions and Benoit Roland of Wrong Men North. XYZ will executive produce the film and handle worldwide sales rights. WME Global is co-representing the U.S. with XYZ.

‘Pilgrimage’ was developed with the assistance of the Irish Film Board and Creative Europe and will be financed by Irish Film Board, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, Wallimages and the Wallonia Cultural Fund.
