Hamlet (2014)

So lange wie das Ergebnis so schön ist wie dieses Hörbuch, kann er ruhig öfter solch "kleine" Projekte annehmen, ob nun für eine Aufenthaltserlaubnis oder einfach weil es ihn interessiert, ist mir eigentlich egal.

Ich glaube auch nicht, dass er das Projekt nur wegen der Aufenthaltserlaubnis angenommen hat. Es wird, wenn überhaupt, wohl eine Mischung aus diesem und Interesse sein. Wenn er nicht hinter dem Projekt stehen würde, hätte er es nicht gemacht, Aufenthaltserlaubnis hin oder her.

Mir gefällt ja die Stelle mit Hamlet, dem Stallburschen und dem Pferd so gut. Wie Richard es schafft, die Stimme des Stallburschen brechen zu lassen, wenn dieser über das Pferd spricht.... einfach wundervoll! Es nimmt mich total mit...

Ja, damit wollte ich nicht sagen, er hasse die Aufgabe bzw. Thematik oder so. Ich nehme an, wenn das so wäre, dann hätte er was anderes gemacht, d.h., nicht dieses Projekt. Bloß sieht es so passend aus -- er brauchte eine schnelle bezahlte Arbeit, um seine Aufenthalt zu sichern.

Oh, ich glaube schon, dass ihn das Projekt interessiert, so ist es nicht. Auch wenn es nicht ganz das gleiche ist wie Hamlet auf der Bühne, erlaubt es doch, sich in die Thematik zu versenken. Alan Cumming, der narrator von Macbeth ist ein sehr renommierter Theaterdarsteller: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Cumming

Genau, Maike! Es ist darüberhinaus auch mehr als der pure Shakespeare und das scheint ihn ja durchaus zu interessieren. Und gut gemacht ist es auch noch! Mir hat schon das Macbeth-Hörbuch mit Alan Cumming gefallen, von dem ich übrigens auch die Shakespeare-Ein-Mann-Version als Hörbuch habe. Der ist schon sehr gut!

Ich liebe dieses Hörbuch! Ich habe es heute an einem Stück durchgehört. Es ist richtig gut gemacht und es langweilt nicht, auch wenn man die Geschichte schon kennt. Richard hat da ganze Arbeit geleistet. Man kann förmlich hören wie viel Spaß er daran gehabt hat Young Yorick zu sprechen.

Ich glaube den muss man einfach mögen. Alleine schon wie er immer beschrieben wird, wie er spricht... genial!

An den Stellen wo sich Hamlet mit Young Yorick unterhält, ist es richtig schade, wenn man das Shakespeare-Werk schon kennt und weiß, dass Hamlet eigentlich nur Selbstgespräche führt. Wenn man das nicht wüsste, könnte man glatt glauben, dass es den Narren tatsächlich gibt... das finde ich im Hörbuch richtig geschickt gemacht... Young Yorick verzieht sich immer, wenn jemand an Hamlet's Tür klopft und taucht überhaupt nur dann auf, wenn Hamlet allein ist. Konfrontationen mit Dritten werden so gut es geht vermieden (lediglich zum Schluss kommt es immer mal wieder vor, dass Hamlet in der Gesellschaft anderer zu Young Yorick spricht). Man kommt bis zum Schluss kaum auf die Idee, dass Young Yorick nicht aus Fleisch und Blut ist. Er isst Äpfel, er spielt Schach, ganz so als wäre er ein normaler Mensch und dennoch existiert er nur in Hamlet's Kopf.

This post has already more than five hundred words and I have not written anything yet of the narrator… I guess that, in this moment, very few actors would have been able to narrate this book as Richard Armitage has. In my opinion the narration of an audiobook is by far more difficult than to participate in an audiodrama where the work is shared by a group of actors and the sound effects help the hearer’s imagination. Here everything is made by himself, pure acting, a man alone (with a director behind the booth) in front of a microphone. And, as happened in the beginning of times, when our ancestors gathered in front of the fire to hear the story teller, the magic is created, apparently from nothing. The magic potion cooked by the authors in their cauldron comes to life and his voice guides us to that world. The scene of the murder of Pollonius and the following dialogue, the confrontation between Gertrude and Hamlet, are one of the most moving performances that I have ever heard “I wonder how a woman who wept for THIS man goes to THIS in less time that take to a funeral banquet to ROT! I have dogs that are more loyal”, with the enhanced difficulty that between the “this man” and “goes to this”, the voice of Hamlet, broken by the emotion, is mixed with the impassive tone of the narrator. I guess this is something extremely difficult to make, technically speaking. Of all the repertoire of voices that Richard has created for this audiobook two are my favourite ones: Claudius and Gregor Macbeth. The voice of the king is the more “Thorin-like” of all: deep, profound, conveys perfectly to the reader the complexity of Claudius’ psychology “I killed your father for good reason… I never wanted your life too. Yet foul deeds begot others”.

Many other hearings of this audiobook will follow and I’m sure that with each of them I will discover something new.
