Will Hannibal Play A Smaller Role In Season 3?

The premier of Hannibal Season 3 has been delayed to the summer, but just how big of a role will the titular character play?
With Hannibal Season 3 delayed until the summer months, it’s going to be interesting to see just how much the character is used in the third season. The delay seems to suggest that more time is needed for filming, but is that because of the characters added or the characters already in the series?
All indications point towards Red Dragon being an inspiration for this upcoming season, and that means we could see a larger role for Francis Dolarhyde over that of Hannibal Lectar.
In the novel, Red Dragon, it’s a battle between the serial killer known as The Tooth Fairy and recently un-retired FBI agent Will Graham. The movie of the same name, which pit Edward Norton in the role of Graham and Raph Finnes in the role of Dolarhyde, seems to be where this third season is headed in terms of story.
If that’s the case, we could see a reduced role for Hannibal.
That may not be a bad thing though, as changing up the story like that could serve the series well. Then again, Hannibal is a crucial part of Red Dragon as he serves as the Tooth Fairy’s idol — and an instrument for Will Graham to use in finding him.
Either way, Red Dragon seems to be where the third season of Hannibal is headed and it looks like we’re finally going to be getting into the meat of the novels moving forward.
